LUSAKA, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in Zambia major media outlets on Friday.

-- Five cooperatives in Zambia have benefited from a 40 million U.S. dollars projected being supported by the World Bank that will help increase market linkages and firm growth in agri-usiness.

Private Sector Development Agri-business consultant Henry Schembe said the fund aims to provide beneficiary support to 4,500 farmers and 180 producer organizations by 2022. (Times of Zambia)

-- Zambia and Rwanda have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in information and communication technologies and e-government.

Martin Mtonga, Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet in charge of e-governance and Rwandan Director-General for National Digital Transformation Goron Kalema signed the agreement. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Mobile subscriptions have an improvement in penetration rate to 91.6 percent in 2018 from 81.6 percent in 2017, a report by Zambia's finance ministry has shown.

The annual economic report for 2018 reports that mobile subscriber base grew by 15.1 percent in 2018 to 15,470,270 from 13,438,539 in 2017. (Daily Nation)

-- Corruption watchdog, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has urged the Zambian government to take bold decisions on the future of poor performing parastatals which are a drain on national resources.
