BRUSSELS, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The euro area annual inflation rate was 1.7 pct in April 2019, a 0.3 percent and 0.5 percent rise on monthly and yearly base respectively, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said in a press release Friday.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Croatia (0.8 percent), Denmark and Portugal (both 0.9 percent). The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (4.4 percent) and Hungary (3.9 percent ), said the press release.
Compared with March 2019, annual inflation fell in six member states, remained stable in two and rose in 19.
In April 2019, the highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from services, followed by energy, food, alcohol & tobacco and non-energy industrial goods, said the press release. Enditem
