BOGOTA, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Monterrey right-back Stefan Medina has been drafted into Colombia's squad for the Copa America in Brazil, the South American country's football federation said on Monday.
Medina replaces Luis Manuel Orejuela, who was ruled out of the continental tournament after suffering a knee injury while playing for Brazilian side Cruzeiro.
In a separate statement, Cruzeiro said Orejuela would undergo keyhole surgery in the coming days.
Medina, 26, earned the last of his 11 international caps in Colombia's 4-0 win over China in November 2017.
Colombia will begin their Copa America campaign against Argentina in Salvador on June 15. The Cafeteros will also meet Qatar and Paraguay in the competition's group stage. Enditem
