LONDON, May 22 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.07 percent, or 5.27 points, to close at 7,334.19 points.
Smurfit Kappa Group, a leading corrugated packaging company, soared 5.49 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. DS Smith and Hikma Pharmaceuticals increased by 3.77 percent and 3.10 percent, respectively.
Marks & Spencer Group, a major British multinational retailer, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 9.37 percent. Easyjet,a low-cost British airline, dropped 5.83 percent. Persimmon, a British housebuilding company, fell 5.53 percent. Enditem
