CANNES, France, May 24 (Xinhua) -- "I always give my best when I'm inspired by the director," said Italian actress Monica Bellucci during the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

"We have so many things inside us and the filmmaker knows how to canalize all these elements," Bellucci said in a recent interview with Xinhua about her movie The Best Years of a Life, directed by Oscar winner French director Claude Lelouche, which was presented out of competition at the film festival.

The film is the epilogue of Lelouche's 1966 love-story masterpiece A Man and a Woman.

Bellucci said she likes Lelouche's philosophy of life, and the film was a dream for her. When she heard Lelouche was preparing the film, she said she wanted "to be in this movie, even if I only get to bring coffee to the protagonists."

She added that Lelouche gave all his actors their chances to exist. Even if her part was short, it was very intense for her.

She said it is a "dreamlike thing" to be on-set and "you don't feel cold, hungry or thirsty and you are on another level of life."

Talking about a key point in the film, love of seniors, Bellucci said she liked the fact that for the two characters, the age issue doesn't exist.

"We see two people meeting again after 50 years and the love, and more importantly the sensuality, is still there, it's incredible how their eyes are full of life again," she said.

Bellucci, a former top model born in 1964, starred in the James Bond movie Spectre at the age of 51, becoming the oldest actress to play a "Bond girl." She was also in the cast, together with English actress Naomi Watts and American actress Jennifer Jason Leigh, of the third season of the TV series Twin Peaks by David Lynch.

Talking about her love of both fashion and cinema, Bellucci explained that she learned to be in front of the camera when she was very young, but that being an actress is a completely different thing.

"Acting is movement, while when you are posing for a photo, the result is stiff," Bellucci said, referring to acting as another amazing expression of art.

Bellucci added that she will start with a movie directed by female Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania, playing the role of an art gallerist. Enditem
