SINGAPORE, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.29 percent, or 9.17 points, to close at 3,169.89.
A total of 1.34 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 977.20 million Singapore dollars (about 709.40 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 145 to 214.
The STI index went down 0.7 percent, or 22.42 points, to close at 3,160.72 Thursday. Enditem
