COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka's Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya has appointed a special Parliamentary Committee to probe the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks which killed over 250 people and injured over 500, local media reported Friday.
The special committee will be headed by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri and includes seven legislators from the government, including former army commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka. (Sri Lanka-Terror attack investigation)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 12 people were injured when a bomb went off inside a mosque in Pakistan's southwest Quetta city of Balochistan province on Friday, local media reports said.

MANILA -- The Philippine government ran a fiscal surplus of 86.9 billion pesos (1.66 billion U.S. dollars) for the month of April, surpassing last year's 46.3 billion pesos (881.90 million) by 87.6 percent, the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) of the Philippines said on Friday.
For the month of April, the bureau said government revenues reached 308.7 billion pesos (5.88 billion U.S. dollars), up 1.1 billion pesos (20.95 million U.S. dollars) on a year-on-year basis. (Philippines-Budget)

SEOUL -- One South Korean navy sailor was dead and four others were injured Friday morning in a ceremony to welcome the return of a destroyer from an overseas mission, according to local media reports.
