TIRANA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama called for dialogues on Saturday in a public letter addressed to the main Democratic Party (DP)opposition leader Lulzim Basha ahead of the opposition protest.

This is the fourth public letter Rama addressed to the DP leader in which he asked for dialogues. Rama asked Basha to be reasonable and come to the dialogue table, not to the streets.

"You still have time to make steps back. You should not ask anymore for my resignation since I was not elected by you, but by the Albanian people," Rama wrote.

Moreover, Rama reiterated his request for dialogue without conditions and fear.

"Conditions and fears are the obstacles that will come out tomorrow as a policy failure," Rama added in his public letter.

The Albanian opposition has announced that they will hold another protest on Saturday evening and called on all citizens to join.

Meanwhile, international representative offices in Albania have urged the opposition to refrain from violence, adding that "violence is unacceptable and riots are not a substitute for democratic political engagement."

"The European Union (EU) delegation and EU Member States' embassies in Albania fully respect the fundamental right of citizens of Albania to demonstrate. However, we reiterate the importance of exercising this right peacefully," the statement of the EU delegation reads.

Albanian opposition has organized several protests, of which some turned violent. The opposition lawmakers have resigned from their parliament seats, refusing to have dialogue with Rama, asking him and his cabinet to resign and calling for early general elections. Enditem
