KABUL, May 27 (Xinhua) -- About 2,768 newly graduated Afghan officers and soldiers joined the country's national army on Monday, an army source said.

"The graduates received their certificates during a ceremony at Kabul Military Training Center (KMTC) Monday morning," the KMTC spokesman Capt. Barat Ali Rizae told Xinhua.

Newly graduates have received a three-month training period at the KMTC in eastern Kabul, he said, adding that they would be deployed to the countryside.

The latest graduation came as daily violence and clashes have been continuing in the country.

The graduation will boost the capacity of the Afghan army and enable the security forces to further check subversive activities across the country, Rizae said. Enditem
