BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.38 percent, at 2,892.38 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.31 percent higher at 8,979.83 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.34 percent to close at 1,491.95 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 41.62 points, or 0.69 percent, to a level of 6,114.53 on Monday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved up 10.72 points, or 0.66 percent to close at 1,624.84 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Monday. Among the sectors, except IT and pharma all other indices ended higher led by infra, metal, PSU bank, FMCG and energy.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,601.35 up 3.03 points or 0.19 percent, and the Emas was at 11,616.42 up 66.89 points or 0.49 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.03 percent, or 0.88 points, to close at 3,170.77.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 65.84 points, or 0.24 percent, to 27,288.09 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,105.22 and 27,371.35. Turnover totaled 73.88 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.41 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 975.14 points on Monday, up 5.11 points, or 0.53 percent against the previous trading day.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 105.04 points on Monday, down 0.35 points or 0.33 percent from the previous trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Monday with a decrease of 0.94 percent compared to the previous trading day.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market fell on Monday despite Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's record revenue and profit figure.

The S&P/NZX 50 Index decreased 74.65 points, or 0.7 percent, to 10,147.71. Within the index, 27 stocks went down, 14 up, and nine were unchanged. Turnover was 82.7 million New Zealand dollars.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.29 percent lower on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 22.08 points to 7,725.01. The all-share index went down by 16.42 points, or 0.34 percent, to 4,765.43.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 1.10 points, or 0.05 percent, to settle at 2,044.21. Trading volume stood at 342 million shares worth 3.3 trillion won (2.7 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday tracking gains made on Wall Street late last week, with investors eagerly awaiting the outcome of talks in Tokyo between the leaders of Japan and the United States.
