KABUL -- Sixteen civilians and 12 soldiers were freed from a Taliban prison after Afghan security forces launched a special operation in restive southern province of Zabul overnight, the country's Ministry of Interior Affairs said Thursday.

The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the report so far. (Afghanistan-Prison)

VIENTIANE -- The Lao and Chinese media institutions have agreed to collaborate on the creation of more digital channels which will allow Lao and Chinese television audiences a broader range of programs.

DHAKA -- Barisal Electricity Power Company Limited, a multinational venture of China-based PowerChina Resources LTD, has donated clothes and sport items to about 200 children of an orphanage in Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
