KABUL -- Sixteen civilians and 12 soldiers were freed from a Taliban prison after Afghan security forces launched a special operation in restive southern province of Zabul overnight, the country's Ministry of Interior Affairs said Thursday.
The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the report so far. (Afghanistan-Prison)

VIENTIANE -- The Lao and Chinese media institutions have agreed to collaborate on the creation of more digital channels which will allow Lao and Chinese television audiences a broader range of programs.
Director General of Lao National Television, Bounchao Phichit, and Chairman of the Yunnan Media Group, He Yaning, signed the agreement on Tuesday, witnessed by Lao Minister for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Bosengkham Vongdara, and the visiting Yunnan provincial governor Ruan Chengfa. DHAKA -- Barisal Electricity Power Company Limited, a multinational venture of China-based PowerChina Resources LTD, has donated clothes and sport items to about 200 children of an orphanage in Bangladesh capital Dhaka.
