LONDON, May 31 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.78 percent, or 56.45 points, to close at 7,161.71 points.
Fresnillo, a Mexican-based precious metals mining company, soared 3.06 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. SSE and National Grid increased by 2.81 percent and 1.90 percent, respectively.
NMC Health, a private healthcare services provider, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.24 percent.
