BUDAPEST, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Hungary on Friday held the final round of its 12th "Chinese Bridge" contest for non-Chinese secondary school students, an annual Chinese proficiency competition, in the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School in Budapest.

The contest drew the participation of 18 Hungarian secondary school students from different schools offering Chinese language classes.

The middle-school contestants attended the competition themed "Learning Chinese, Creating brighter future," in speech, real time Q&A and talent show sections, showing their Chinese language skill and understanding of the Chinese culture.

After intense competition, a 17-year-old student named Fekete Marcell Zoltan from the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School won and he will represent Hungary in the final world-wide contest to be held in China later this year.

"I feel happy in learning Chinese and after graduation from high school, I would like go to China for my further studies," Zoltan told Xinhua after the competition, adding his dream job in the future would be Hungarian diplomats to China.

As the only full-time public school in Central and Eastern Europe that incorporates Chinese into its curriculum just as the local language, Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School has gained popularity in Hungary in recent years.

Chinese language has become one of the foreign language requirements for Hungary's college entrance exam. Enditem
