CAPE TOWN, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Political parties represented in Parliament on Wednesday discussed an oversight committee over the Presidency.

As the Sixth Parliament slowly got into its work, with meetings of the Chief Whips Forum and the Rules Committee, the matter of exercising oversight over the Presidency was discussed in both committees.(News24)

-- President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday met with CEOs of over 20 state-owned enterprises (SOEs) on Wednesday.

-- Finance Minister Tito Mboweni said on Wednesday that a plan by the African National Congress (ANC) to expand the South African Reserve Bank's mandate will further destabilize an already volatile market.
