LONDON, June 6 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.55 percent, or 39.63 points, to close at 7,259.85 points.
Imperial Brands, a British multinational tobacco company, soared 5.71 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. British American Tobacco and United Utilities Group increased by 3.08 percent and 2.78 percent, respectively.
Taylor Wimpey, a UK-based residential developer, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.48 percent. Kingfisher, an international home improvement company, dropped 4.81 percent. Hargreaves Lansdown, a financial service company, lost 4.11 percent. Enditem
