WASHINGTON -- Rising tariffs and other steps taken by Washington are "undermining the global trading system," increasing restrictions on trade in goods and services, and catalyzing a cycle of retaliatory trade responses, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday.

"Tariff measures are likely to be ineffective at containing bilateral trade deficits and will be damaging to the U.S. and to global macroeconomic outturns," the IMF said in a statement after concluding its annual Article IV consultation to review the U.S. economy. (US-IMF-Tariffs)

NEW YORK -- A military vehicle overturned near the United States Military Academy at West Point on Thursday morning, killing one cadet and injuring other 22 people in the vehicle, according to the academy and local media reports.

A total of 21 cadets and two soldiers were inside the Light Medium Tactical Vehicle when the accident took place around 6:45 a.m. (1045 GMT), West Point said on Twitter. The truck was en route to a training site close to the academy, some 50 miles (80 km) north of New York City. (US-Accident-Death)

ADEN, Yemen -- Unknown gunmen hurled a grenade at a singing concert in Yemen's southern port city of Aden on Thursday night, killing a child, a security official told Xinhua.

The singing concert was organized by the local authorities inside a sports stadium in Aden's neighborhood of Mansourah to celebrate Eid al-Fitr festival, the official said on condition of anonymity. (Yemen-Grenade Attack)
