LUSAKA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia major media outlets on Saturday.

-- Zambia's First Lady Esther Lungu has challenged men to play a leading role in eradicating vices such as child marriages, teenage pregnancies and HIV/AIDS by being exemplary in their conduct.

The Zambian first lady said men are the main culprits of perpetrating these vices and that they should change their mindsets. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Fifteen elephants are on the loose in Muchinga Province leaving villagers in fear of their lives.

Provincial Police Commisioner Jo Njase said his office had received a report of conflicts between the elephants and human beings and that officers from the Department of National Park daIlies Services have been dispatched to the area to see how best to address it. (Times of Zambia)

-- Farmers in Zambia will default on loan repayments this year as they are unable to make profits from their produce because the market had been flooded with cheap imports, a farmer's body has said.

Jarvis Zimba, president of the Zambia National Farmers Union said the industry had been infiltrated by imported cheap products which made it impossible for farmer's to make profits. (Daily Nation)

-- The Zambian government says recruitment of staff ahead of the launch of a national airline has started.

Minister of Transport and Communication Brian Mushimba said the recruitment have started with senior management staff to be followed by middle and other support staff. (The Mast) Enditem
