BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping extended congratulations Sunday to his Philippine counterpart Rodrigo Duterte on the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the 121st anniversary of the Philippines' independence.

In his congratulatory message, Xi said he is very delighted that the Philippines has been making new achievements in its national construction under the leadership of Duterte.

Currently, China-Philippines relations maintains stably growing momentum and the two countries' cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, he said.

MONTEVIDEO -- Trade tensions spurred by Washington against its trading partners hurt multilateralism and affect small countries' access to technology, a Uruguayan official has said.
