Mine depot outburst kills 10 militants in S. Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, June 10 (Xinhua) -- A mine cache, belonging to the Taliban militants, erupted on Sunday, leaving at least 10 insurgents dead and wounding two others in Afghanistan southern Kandahar province, an official said Monday.

The incident happened in the Taliban-controlled Wali Shah Maghzi border area of Spin Boldak district, where a mine depot owned by the Taliban group exploded Sunday night, resulting in the death of 10 insurgents and injuring two others, Qasim Azad, a spokesman for police in the province told Xinhua.

Six foreign militants are among those killed in the blast, the official said without identifying their nationalities.

The Taliban group has yet to make a comment on the incident. Enditem
