KIEV -- The first Confucius Music Center in Europe opened at the Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine on Monday.

The opening ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Du Wei, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and a delegation of China's Central Conservatory of Music headed by Professor Ye Xiaogang. (Ukraine-Confucius Music Center)

NUR-SULTAN -- Kazakhstan's interim president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev won the central Asian country's elections with 70.76 percent of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC) on Monday.

Preliminary results of the Sunday elections showed Tokayev was far ahead of his nearest rival, opposition candidate Amirzhan Kosanov of the United National Patriotic Movement "Ult Tagdyry" who received more than 16 percent of the vote, according to Konstantin Petrov, deputy chairman of the CEC. CAIRO -- An Egyptian archeological mission discovered a residential building from King Ramses II in the province of Beheira in northern Egypt, the country's antiquities ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"Operating in the north-west corner of the military fortress in Al-Ibqa'in area in the center of Housh Eissa, the mission found also remains of two architectural units attached to a military fortress that were used as storage sheds addition to a residential building from King Ramses II period, 1303-1213 B.C.," according to the statement.
