ALGIERS, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Algeria plans to establish veterinary health certificates with Asian countries ahead of export and import of farm products, said a report by the APS news agency on Monday.

"Algeria has adopted several veterinary health certificates with many countries and intends to do so with other Asian countries such as China and Vietnam," said Algerian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fishing Cherif Omari, on the sidelines of an agreement signing ceremony with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN.

"We are targeting to reach Asian countries as they represent promising markets for domestic exporters," Omari said.

Algeria also plans to establish health certificate with Russia ahead of diversifying food suppliers and placing domestic farm products in the Russian market, the minister added.

The health certificate is a document elaborated by competent authorities, which certifies that farm products and animals comply with health, hygiene, and microbiological standards. Enditem
