Namibia's private airline Westair Aviation to launch passenger flights in late June

WINDHOEK, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's private airline Westair Aviation on Monday announced the launch of its domestic passenger flights in late June.
"On Monday 24 June 2019, a new era in Namibian aviation will take flight with Westair Aviation's first scheduled passenger flight after the company was granted Designated Carrier status by the Namibian Transport Commission," it said in a statement.
It will fly airliners to destinations in the southwestern African country and in Africa under the brand name "FlyWestair," it said, with the first route being from the Eros Airport in the capital Windhoek to Oranjemund, with three flights per week.
Other domestic routes are planned to open in July and regional flights to operate from August, according to the company.
Westair Aviation, which was started in 1967 for aircraft maintenance, now has a fleet of more than 30 aircraft and 70 pilots, and has expanded its business over the years to provide services for mining companies and lease aircraft, among others. Enditem
