NAIROBI, June 12 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were burnt to death on Tuesday night at a lodging in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, the police confirmed Wednesday.
Nairobi police commander Philip Ndolo said the deceased were burnt beyond recognition after a fire razed a lodging where they were sleeping near a bus station.
Ndolo said the preliminary findings showed a gas cylinder caused the fire, adding that the inferno started spreading from a hotel next to the lodging.
The fire was put out but long after it had caused heavy damage.
The police said the firefighters discovered the bodies of two men and a woman burnt beyond recognition, adding that the rescue efforts were still underway to check for more casualties. Enditem
