JERUSALEM, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Israel joined an international fund of the World Bank to help developing countries adopt cyber security capabilities, the state's Ministry of Economy and the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) announced on Monday.

According to the agreement signed with the World Bank, Israel will join the Digital Development Partnership (DDP), which offers a platform for digital innovation and development financing.

As part of the agreement, Israel will help building an infrastructure for adopting digital technologies in emerging markets.

Israel is expected to participate in the promotion of cyber protection strategies and projects with countries such as Japan, the United Kingdom, Finland, Denmark and Norway, as well as with major entities such as GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association).

According to the agreement, Israel will provide technical assistance to countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, while building their readiness for cyber challenges, and will contribute 1 million U.S. dollars to the Partnership.

The cooperation will include a variety of projects in the areas of knowledge sharing, awareness raising and capacity building.

Israel will also be a partner in other initiatives of the fund, which is working to develop digital technologies in the developing world.

According to the Ministry, "Israel will share its knowledge and experience in raising the readiness and resilience of critical sectors for cyber events and will make its academics and entrepreneurs available for the development needs."

The Israeli representatives are expected to be part of the Partnership's discussions bringing to the table the outstanding Israeli experience in the field and its point of view.

"The agreement will allow the Israeli cyber industry and academy to contribute from its vast knowledge and will continue to position Israel at the forefront of global action in the field of cyber capabilities," said Yigal Unna, the INCD Director General. Enditem
