UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday condemned the terrorist attacks in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu and in northeastern Kenya, which killed at least 18 people in total on Saturday.

Guterres "expresses his deepest condolences to the families of those killed and to the governments and people of Kenya and Somalia," his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said. "He wishes a quick recovery to the injured."

The secretary-general "expresses the solidarity of the United Nations with the governments of Kenya and Somalia in their efforts to fight terrorism and violent extremism," Dujarric added.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that he will roll out a new health care plan in a few months.

"We're going to produce phenomenal health care, and we already have the concept of the plan," Trump said in an interview with ABC News that aired Sunday night.

"We'll be announcing that in two months, maybe less," he said.

JERUSALEM -- Israel will participate in the U.S.-led economic conference in Bahrain later in June, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said Sunday.

"Israel will be represented at Bahrain economic workshop in a way that will be decided later on," Katz wrote on his Twitter, after speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Post convention in New York.

"Israel has the ability to contribute to the development of the region with technology, (innovation,) and other ways," he wrote.

JOHANNESBURG -- The Council of Elders of the African Elephant Coalition (AEC) comprising 32 African countries and the majority of African elephant range states on Monday called on Japan to close its ivory market to help fight illegal poaching.

The AEC stated that the ivory market in Japan which is among the world's largest if closed would help reduce illegal poaching of wildlife species.

"We believe that doing so will strengthen Japan's international conservation image ahead of the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics," said Azizou El Hadj Issa, chairperson of the AEC's Council of Elders, in a letter to Taro Kono, Japanese Foreign Minister. Enditem
