KIGALI, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 8.4 percent in the first quarter of 2019 (Q1), attributable mainly to the performance of service, agriculture, and industry sectors, the country's statistics body said on Monday.
In Q1, service sector contributed 48 percent of GDP, agriculture contributed 28 percent, while industry contributed 17 percent, Ivan Murenzi, deputy director general of National Institute of Statistics, told a news briefing in the capital city Kigali.
GDP at current prices was estimated to be 2,144 billion Rwandan francs (about 2.4 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1,987 billion Rwandan francs (about 2.2 billion dollars) in the first quarter of 2018, said Murenzi.
The industry sector grew by 18 percent, the service sector grew by 8 percent, and the agriculture sector grew by 4 percent, he said. Enditem
