LONDON, June 18 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.17 percent, or 85.73 points, to close at 7,443.04 points.
Ashtead Group, a British industrial equipment rental company, soared 6.09 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Antofagasta and DS Smith increased by 4.74 percent and 3.91 percent, respectively.
Imperial Brands,a British multinational tobacco company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.48 percent.
