SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, June 22 (Xinhua) -- A total of 25 water-supply projects have been completed and inaugurated in parts of Afghanistan's northern Jawzjan province to benefit about 9,000 families in the relatively peaceful province, said a statement of the provincial government Saturday.

The projects, worth 72 million afghanis (900,000 U.S. dollars) financed by the government would cover dozens of villages, said provincial governor Mawlawi Lutfullah Azizi.

In his speech after inauguration of the projects, the governor said that the local administration with the support of central government would continue to serve the people by launching development projects including providing potable water, building roads, connecting villages to main roads and cities, construction schools and clinics.

Azizi in his speech also called upon the anti-government militants to give up fighting and join hands to rebuild the country. Enditem
