HARARE, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zimbabwe's major media outlets on Monday.

-- The Zimbabwe government has noted that the price of sanitary wear has shot beyond the reach of many women who have resorted to using unhygienic materials, exposing them to various diseases, despite the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) waiving customs duty on imports of the feminine product.

ZIMRA has informed the public on the suspension of customs duty on sanitary wear for women as a way of promoting hygiene. (The Herald)

-- Heads of hospitals, police stations and prisons will be jailed up to five years if found guilty of destroying or tampering with vital evidence that incriminates in the death of people under their custody, when the Coroner's Office Bill becomes law.

This comes as the government takes seriously the death of people in prison, under police custody and in hospitals, among others. In the past, there have been suspected cover-ups by heads of departments. (The Herald)

-- The government has fended off a potentially crippling industrial action in the civil service after President Emmerson Mnangagwa assented to a pay raise for the restive workers effective next month.

The new deal will see the least paid government worker taking home around 1,000 RTGS dollars, from the current 600 dollars, sources said. (Newsday) Enditem
