MOSCOW, June 25 (Xinhua) -- A magnitude-6.2 earthquake hit Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia's Far East on Tuesday, said the Kamchatka division of the geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The tremor occurred 119 km east of the village of Ust-Kamchatsk at a depth of 52 km at around 9:05 p.m. local time (1805 GMT), it said.

According to the Kamchatka division of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, there was no risk of a tsunami and there have been no reports of casualties or serious damages.

The U.S. Geological Survey said earlier that the peninsula had experienced a magnitude-6.6 earthquake. Enditem
