DAMASCUS -- An explosive device went off in Syria's capital city of Damascus on Thursday morning, wounding a woman and her child, Syria state news agency SANA reported.

OSAKA, Japan -- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived here Thursday afternoon for a summit of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

TALUQAN, Afghanistan -- A Taliban key commander in-charge of recruitment Mawlawi Islamudin alias Qari Bilal has given up fighting and handed over his weapon to the police in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province, provincial police spokesman Abdul Khalil Asir said Thursday.
"Taliban eminent commander Mawlawi Islamudin alias Qari Bilal who also served as in-charge of Taliban outfit for recruiting fighters from young people in the northern Takhar and neighboring Kunduz province has given up fighting and handed over his weapon to police here in provincial capital Taluqan city," Asir told Xinhua. SAN FRANCISCO -- The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said Wednesday a new problem has been discovered on Boeing 737 MAX jets that could delay its return to service following months of grounding globally.
