-- The African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape said on Monday it is appalled and disgusted by the City of Cape Town's "war against the homeless" after it was revealed that a new by-law will see homeless people being fined for obstructing pavements.
"We demand that the city stops this cruel, inhumane enforcement of its by-laws immediately, as well as showing more compassion by making more shelters available to the homeless," ANC Western Cape secretary Faiez Jacobs said in a statement. (News24)
-- President Cyril Ramaphosa said on Monday he complied with Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's recommendations in connection with her investigation into Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.
But Ramaphosa said he would not take disciplinary action against him pending his High Court review application. (Eyewitness News)
-- Democratic Alliance (DA) Gauteng caucus leader, Solly Msimanga, said on Monday the party will give Premier David Makhura until the end of August to deliver a concrete plan on the e-toll issue before taking action against him.
