TEHRAN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed on Tuesday in clashes between Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the armed militants in Iran's northwestern province of West Azarbaijan, state TV reported.
An IRGC statement said its forces dismantled a team of "terrorists," killing two of its members.
The "terrorists" were ambushed as they were trying to infiltrate the country from the province's Chaldoran County, the statement added.
In the operation, two IRGC servicemen were killed, it added.
According to the statement, a considerable amount of weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment were seized from the militants.
Over the past years, western and northwestern borders of Iran have been the scene of clashes between the Kurdish rebels and the Iranian security forces. Enditem
