AMMAN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Tuesday urged the Libyan authorities to exert immediate efforts to secure the release and safe return of three Jordanians kidnapped in the North African country.

The remarks were made by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi during a phone call with his Libyan counterpart Mohamed Siala.

Siala said the Jordanians were held by a Libyan militia group and then handed over to another, causing the delay in efforts to secure their release, according to a ministry statement obtained by Xinhua.

Libya was following the case upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, the Libyan official added. Enditem
