German shares edge up Wednesday

FRANKFURT, July 3 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 89.52 points, or 0.71 percent, to close at 12,616.24 points.

Housing association Vonovia won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.76 percent. Deutsche Bank and automotive manufacturer BMW group rose by 2.67 percent and 1.96 percent respectively.

Automotive supplier Continental lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.60 percent. Semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and material manufacturer Covestro went down by 0.89 percent and 0.73 percent respectively.

Multinational software corporation SAP was the most-traded share with a turnover of 249.8 million euros (282.1 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
