LUSAKA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Zambia's international tourist arrivals are projected to increase by 56,174 this year as the government intensifies its marketing strategy.

Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda said Zambia is expected to record 1.128 million international tourist arrivals, up from 1.072 million in 2018. (Times of Zambia)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu says it is unacceptable for the country to experience hunger when God has blessed it with all the resources.

Lungu said the government will not be part of mere rhetoric on the development of the agriculture sector but will ensure that pragmatic steps are taken to actualize the country's potential in the sector. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The Zambian parliament has rejected a motion presented by a lawmaker urging the government to ban shisha smoking in the country.

Sensio Banda, the lawmaker who raised the motion, argued that shisha smoking, which is common among youths, is a serious issue that needs to be addressed urgently. (Daily Nation)

-- A Zambian youth has been selected among 60 others to receive a Global Change Maker title from the Global Change Makers International Youth Organization and to represent the country at the Global Youth Summit to be held in Switzerland from July 13 to 19, 2019.

Mutabi Mwale, a 22-year-old student from the University of Zambia, earned the Global Change Maker title for her fight against child marriages, gender discrimination, cultural bias and promoting menstrual hygiene. (The Mast) Enditem
