German shares edge down Friday

FRANKFURT, July 5 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 61.37 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 12,568.53 points.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens lost 2.94 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and material manufacturer Covestro, which lost 2.47 percent and 1.44 percent respectively.

Deutsche Bank gained 2.47 percent, becoming the top gainer. Multinational chemical firm Linde and renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical advanced 0.73 percent and 0.51 percent respectively.

Siemens was the most traded share with a turnover of 324.5 million euros (365.3 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
