OSLO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Preliminary examination results showed that girls score better in exams than boys in Norway's primary and secondary schools, newspaper Aftenposten reported Saturday.

In primary schools, the difference is greatest in Norwegian language exam and least in mathematics, according to the examination results published by the Directorate of Education.

In Norwegian language exam, girls received an average of 0.6 points higher than the boys, the report said.

The greatest difference in secondary schools was in social science exam, where girls received 0.6 points more than the boys.

"There are small changes, and this is good news. Stable results show that the exam is at about the same level of difficulty as in previous years," said Julie Midtgarden Remen, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Education and Research. Enditem
