DHAKA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's 23rd National Art Exhibition is underway in the country's National Art Gallery in capital Dhaka.

The month-long biennial art exhibition by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (the national academy of fine and performing art) features an array of artworks on diverse mediums and genres by hundreds of artists.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister's Political Adviser HT Imam inaugurated the festival last week.

Liaquat Ali, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's director general, said earlier that 322 artworks are being displayed at the exhibition after they were selected by a five-member jury from around 1,500 artworks submitted by 850 artists.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has been organizing the National Art Exhibition since 1975. Enditem
