BUDAPEST, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban received here on Monday Estonia's Deputy Prime Minister Mart Helme, who is also interior minister and chairman of the Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE).

"Respect for nations, the preservation of Christian culture, protection of the borders and action against migration were among the issues discussed at the meeting," the Hungarian government said in a statement published on its website.

"In many respects, my party looks upon Hungary and the V4 (Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia) cooperation as a model as these countries represent very important European core values during the debates on the continent's future," the statement quoted Helme as saying.

The two politicians agreed that it was important to support the national economy, culture and education as well as to protect Christian culture and to effectively defend the external borders. Simultaneously, they said it was necessary to tighten immigration policy and to support European families in the interest of solving Europe's demographic problems, according to the statement.

"Europe should concentrate on regional cooperation, for which the unity and ever-increasing interest representation capacity of the V4 countries is a good example," the statement concluded. Enditem
