KIEV, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Restoring peace in Ukraine is possible only through diplomatic negotiations, noted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the press conference after meeting with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, according to the Interfax Ukraine news agency on Monday.

"I invite everyone to Donbas to see how much trouble the war has brought. And we want to stop this war. And we want to restore peace in Ukraine. But it is possible to do it only using one 'weapon' - diplomacy, "said Zelensky during the press conference.

During the officials' meeting at the summit, the EU politicians reaffirmed their support to Ukraine's' sovereignty and territorial integrity and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Ahead of the summit, Tusk traveled with the president of Ukraine to Stanytsia Luhanska, the area at the contact line where a successful troop pullback was completed at the end of June marking a new milestone in the conflict resolution in Eastren Ukraine.

The meeting of the Ukrainian and EU leaders was held as the part of the 21st Ukraine-EU Summit held in Kiev on Monday.

The ongoing violence in Eastern Ukraine broke out in April 2014 as separatist forces clashed with government forces. Enditem
