LAGOS, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria has named 10 table tennis players to attend the forthcoming 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships to be held in Odisha, India, from July 17-22, an official said Friday.

The players, five males and five females, were carefully selected based on their current form and performance, James Eakyns, Scribe of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) told reporters in Lagos, the nation's commercial hub.

The players were conversant with international tournaments and in good preparations to represent the nation at the championships, he added.

Eakyns said the team would depart the country on July 16 to compete in the singles, mixed doubles and team events in the six-day championships which will be staged in Jawaharlal Indoor Stadium in Cuttack.

Nigeria will feature alongside host India, Singapore, Malaysia, Scotland, Bangledesh, Sri Lanka, Australia, Cyprus, Pakistan and South Africa in the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) hosted championships. Enditem
