PHNOM PENH -- The fourth batch of 10 Cambodian young talents will undergo a 12-day training course in information and communication technology (ICT) sector in China under the Chinese telecom giant Huawei-sponsored "Seeds for the Future" program.

The group will fly to China for the course, to be held in Beijing and Shenzhen from July 22 to August 2. (Cambodia-China-Training)

MANILA -- The Philippines declared a "national dengue alert" on Monday in several regions of the Philippines due to "the rapidly increasing number of cases" in these areas.

From Jan. 1 to June 29, 2019, the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) said 106,630 dengue cases had been reported nationwide, an 85 percent increase from the 57,564 cases reported over the same period of last year, and at least 450 deaths were recorded. (Philippines-Dengue)

NEW DELHI -- Over 35 people have died and more than 2.6 million others have been affected in floods ravaging India's eastern state of Bihar and northeastern state of Assam, media reports said Monday.

MAHMOD-E-RAQI, Afghanistan -- Militants affiliated to the Taliban outfit have killed two relatives of a local policeman and wounded another in Afghanistan's eastern Kapisa province, local police said Monday.

The incident happened early Monday morning when Taliban militants shot and killed two shopkeepers and injured another on the charge of having a relationship with a local policeman in Tagab district township, provincial police spokesman Abdul Shayeq Shurash told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Taliban)

SUVA -- A group of Chinese police officers started on Monday to train their Fijian police counterparts to tackle drugs cases in the island nation.

Speaking at the opening of the two-week training on Monday, Fiji's Deputy Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said that 33 police officers are at the training and will incorporate work from the frontline together with the investigation and prosecution of drug cases. (Fiji-China-Police) Enditem
