GWANGJU, South Korea, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China's Wang Han and Shi Tingmao took the country's sixth diving gold medal at the 18th FINA World Aquatics Championships here on Monday.

Wang/Shi dominated from the beginning of the final and performed flawless dives in all five attempts, sealing first with 342.00 points in the women's 3m synchronized springboard event.

The additional gold means China took all six diving golds at stake, even though Wang and Shi were struggling with injury.

"We not only had injuries but also fatigue and stress. We had to use our own time to recover," Wang said. "Every day, we trained very late. And then we went to the medical center. A lot of time was taken away. I had to sleep as much as possible to cure my injury."

"It was important for me to get a gold medal," Shi noted. "But what's more important is to pass the spirit of the Chinese diving team down to the next generation. You cannot restrict yourselves to just winning gold medals. You should see more than this. Enjoy the diving and the games."

Melissa Citrini Beaulieu/Jennifer Abel of Canada secured silver with 311.10 points, 30.90 behind the Chinese duo. Paola Espinosa Sanchez/Melany Hernandez Torres of Mexico took bronze with 294.90.

The men's 10m synchro final will be held later on Monday evening, with China's Cao Yuan/Chen Aisen prevailing in the heats. Enditem
