KHARTOUM, July 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan Donald Booth said on Monday that his country is interested and committed to help the Sudanese people to reach a deal regarding arrangements of the transitional period, according to a statement by Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC).

"I'm here to talk with all the parties to show that the United States is interested and committed to help," Booth was quoted as saying during his meeting with Abdel-Fatah Al-Burhan, TMC's chairman, in the capital Khartoum.

"I'm also working with other international partners of Sudan to ensure that if the Sudanese do achieve this breakthrough, they will be supported by the international community," he added.

According to the statement, Al-Burhan and Booth discussed the ongoing talks between the TMC and the opposition Freedom and Change Alliance to reach a deal to form a civilian-led transitional government.

The TMC and the alliance are scheduled to resume talks on Tuesday to approve the constitutional declaration which determines the powers of the transitional period structures.

On July 5, the TMC and the Freedom and Change Alliance, under mediation of Ethiopia and the African Union, reached a deal on establishing transitional authorities to jointly govern Sudan.

The two sides agreed on a three-year sovereignty council by rotation and a civilian government of independent national competence. Enditem
