CAIRO, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said on Monday that boosting trade and investment cooperation with the United States would give a push to joint action at all levels.

Al-Sisi's remarks came during his meeting in the capital Cairo with Myron Brilliant, executive U.S. vice president and head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

According to a statement by Bassam Rady, al-Sisi's spokesman, the Egyptian President also lauded the important role played by the private sector in strengthening the Egyptian-U.S. ties by boosting investments, transferring knowledge and expertise and promoting trade exchange to serve the common interests of both countries.

For his part, Brilliant highlighted the importance of strategic relations between the two countries, particularly at the economic and investment levels.

The meeting also touched upon means of promoting cooperation between the two countries in Africa, especially in the fields of digital economy, health and energy, during Egypt's presidency of the African Union.

Egypt has been a key regional ally of the United States since its signing of a U.S.-brokered peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Enditem
