BUENOS AIRES, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Former Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi is close to stepping out of retirement to join Boca Juniors, according to Argentine press reports on Tuesday.
De Rossi has previously stated a desire to play at the Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires and has reportedly been encouraged to make the move by Boca's director of sport and former Roma teammate Nicolas Burdisso.
Argentine sports newspaper Ole said the 35-year-old would arrive in Buenos Aires on Friday or Saturday to negotiate final terms of a five-month contract.
De Rossi announced his retirement in May after making his 616th and final appearance for Roma in a 2-1 home win over Parma.
He was capped 117 times for Italy and was a part of the Azzurri team that won the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Enditem
