BISHKEK, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov on Thursday met with visiting South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, with both sides discussing prospects for bilateral cooperation, said the Kyrgyz president's press service.

"This is the first high-level visit from the Republic of Korea over the past 28 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries," Jeenbekov said, adding that the visit will help strengthen friendship and enhance interaction between the countries.

The Kyrgyz president thanked South Korea for its assistance in the implementation of economic projects in the country.

"This visit is belated, but we will make maximum efforts to accelerate the development of bilateral relations," Lee said.

Lee expressed hope for expanding contacts and cooperation not only at the government level, but between business structures, which will create conditions for attracting direct investment.

Both sides also discussed cooperation in digitalization, education and tourism. Enditem
