SEOUL -- A South Korean man in his late 70s died Friday after setting fire to his own car near the Japanese embassy in Seoul and suffering burns, according to local media reports.

The 78-year-old, only identified by his surname Kim, drove his van onto the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the building housing the Japanese embassy. (South Korea-Fire-Japanese embassy)

TOKYO -- The motive behind an alleged arson attack on a studio of Kyoto Animation Co. in western Japan, which killed 33 people a day earlier, may have been the theft of ideas, sources said Friday.

Local media quoting investigative sources, said that a 41-year-old man apprehended over the alleged arson attack told police he started the fire at the three-story studio because the company "stole a novel." (Japan-Animation-Fire)

KABUL -- Four people were killed and 16 others sustained injuries as a blast hit the southern gate of Kabul University here on Friday, Kabul police spokesman Ferdaus Faramarz said.

"A bomb went off at 07:10 a.m. local time at the southern gate of Kabul University when a number of students gathered for examination, killing four people including a traffic police and injuring 16 others including a girl," Faramarz told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Bomb-Kabul)

SEOUL -- South Korea's presidential Blue House said Friday that not South Korea, but Japan violated international law regarding the forced labor of Korean people before and during World War II.
