9 killed in road mishap in western India

NEW DELHI, July 20 (Xinhua) -- At least nine youths died in a road mishap in India's western state of Maharashtra in the wee hours of Saturday, local media reported.

The accident occurred when a car was travelling on the Pune-Solapur highway while it collided head-on with a truck near Pune city.

All the youths in the car were friends who were returning from Raigarh city. The driver of the car reportedly lost control of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The deceased students were residents of Yavat village in Pune, media reports said. Enditem
